Nioxin Reviews

The Nioxin family of products are a mixture of cosmetic hair products, and ones which claim to prevent hair loss in some fashion. I will try to review all Nioxin's products, eventually. Almost all their products are focused on promoting a healthy scalp, which could lead to healthier and fuller looking hair. The products claim to do this with rare herbal ingredients, botanicals, vitamins, proteins, amino acids, and a "Glyco fused complex" to protect the scalp from drying and irritation. I'm not sure what "glyco-infused" means, and couldn't find anything specific on their site.

One of their products, Nioxin Intensive Therapy Follicle Booster does claim to protect the hair and scalp against the "damaging effect of DHT". DHT is one of the hormones thought to play a major role in hair loss. Other products that are thought to work by blocking DHT include Propecia and Rogaine.

Nioxin Shampoo

Nioxin's shampoo product called Semodex Sebolytic Cleanser sounds like one of the more interesting offerings to me. It claims to dissolve and remove sebum from the scalp. It's designed to work with chemically treated hair. I am not sure if that means it works well with Rogaine, but after reviewing their site, it sounds like it may. Nioxin offers another shampoo hair product called Bionutrient Protectives Cleanser. This one is also advertised as being designed for thinning hair, containing herbs, antioxidants, vitamins, and amino acids. It also removes environmental toxins, and claims to leave in essential oils that other shampoos can strip out.
