Toupees

In decades past, wigs and toupees were the only real option to deal with hair loss. With the medications and transplant options available today, this is no longer the case. However wigs are still the preferred option for millions of people. Popular treatments such as Rogaine and Propecia simply do not work for certain people, and for some types of hair loss.

Types of Wigs and Hair Pieces

The materials used to create synthetic wigs has improved in leaps and bounds over the last 40 years. For a reasonable price, you can buy a fairly realistic hairpiece. Synthetic wigs and toupees are much easier to maintain than human hairpieces. They are also more affordable, and matching colors is an easier process. Synthetic wigs are also easier and less expensive to customize.

Human hair wigs are obviously the most realistic in appearance. However, they require the same maintenance that a natural head of hair does. You need to shampoo and take very good care of a natural hairpiece.

Hair Club for men and some other companies offer a unique solution. They cut some of your own hair and create a unique hair piece with it. It is then glued to your head in a way that appears natural. Most reviews of hair club for men I've read say that the appearance is good, but the glue used can be extremely itchy and bothersome. Some users say it's a slight discomfort, while others find it bothersome enough to stop using the "matrix", as hair club for men refers to it as.
